Government Scholarships

15 000 government grants for foreign students are given in Finland annually

What government grants include

The grant provides a student free study on the chosen specialty for the entire period of education. Also, if you need to improve knowledge of Finnish, the grant covers education at preparatory department.

In addition, monthly payment and a place in the student residence is provided.

Who may receive a Grant

All candidates who finished secondary school or vocational school (school, technical school, lyceum, etc.) and successfully passed competitive selection can receive a grant.

What government grant does not cover

Government grant does NOT cover transfer to a university (air ticket), living expenses, health insurance, multiple visa and registration documents upon arrival.

How to get scholarship?

To apply for scholarship, you need to follow the steps below

Fill in the application form

To apply for scholarship, you need to fill in the registration form and attach your international passport (valid min 2 years) education documents.

Get support

Get confirmation

When your docs are accepted – you will get confirmation letter from the university. Usually it takes up to two weeks to receive the confirmation letter from the university.

Pay registration fee

With the confirmation letter, you will be provided the invoice. Registration fee covers notary translation of all your documents and it’s further processing. European Universities Association is in charge to provide you services of admission for full scholarship.

Get confirmation and invitation

After receiving payment confirmation, we will process your documents. Docs processing takes up to 2-3 months. Scholarships are granted before the middle of June. After just scholarship is granted, a study invitation will be issued (before beginning of September).

Apply for study visa

As your invitation is ready, you will be informed by your manager. We will provide you a draft of your invitation , you will be provided an original copy of the invitation. You should apply for a student visa to the Finland embassy with it. European Universities Association is in charge to provide you services of admission for full scholarship.

Plan your trip

When your visa is ready you can buy the ticket and plan your trip to Finland. Send us a copy of your visa and your ticket for us to be able to organize your meeting at the airport.

Welcome to Finland

After arrival, you will have to register at the university, make medical rests, sign all the documents, check in into a dormitory and get ready for classes.

Required documents

International passport

Your international passport is supposed to be valid minimum for 2 more years
If you don’t have an international passport or expiry date will be earlier than in 2 years – make a new passport and apply with it. If you have notary translation of your passport into Finnish language attach it as well.

Documents confirming your previous level of education

  • Highs school certificate (diploma) with marks attached (for bachelor’s courses)
  • bachelors diploma and transcript (for master’s courses)
  • master’s diploma and transcript (for PHD’s courses)

If you have notary translation of your educational documents into Finnish language attach it as well.If you don’t have an international passport or expiry date will be earlier than in 2 years – make a new passport and apply with it. If you have notary translation of your passport into Finnish language attach it as well.

Medical tests

Medical tests are supposed to be made

  • AIDS
  • Tuberculosis (fluorography)
  • Hepatitis B and C

Analyses can be provided later after application. However, if test results are not provided upon request, this will become grounds for refusal to provide a scholarship. If you have notary translation of your medical documents into Finnish language attach it as well.
